Bulldog Boys Beat Thunderbirds to Move Into Subdistricts As Top Seed

As regular season basketball comes to an end, Auburn rides into the postseason on a high note with a Friday victory over Johnson County Central, a win which ties the school record for wins in a season with 18.

Led in points by Cam Binder, who recently broke the school record for three pointers in a career with 144 in only his sophomore year, the Bulldogs currently hold the #3 spot in powerpoints in Class C1.

Shortly after Auburn’s junior varsity squad capped off their 12-0 season, the varsity team took the court in their last game before sub-district play against the Thunderbirds of JCC.

In the first quarter, Cam Binder and CJ Hughes both hit three pointers to jump out to a 14-6 lead. Freshman Ryan Binder added two points to the first quarter total in his first career start for the Bulldogs.

Bret Baltensperger and Daniel Frary also made shots in the second quarter to extend the lead to 12. Auburn’s defense in the first half kept the pressure on the Thunderbirds early. Allowing only five field goals in the first half, the Bulldog’s defense is a staple of their playing style.
