2021 Auburn Legion Summer Baseball Seasons Have Begun
The 2021 Auburn American Legion Baseball teams began their seasons on May 20 against Nebraska City. The game resulted in a 5-4 loss for the First National Bank of Johnson Seniors, but players and coaches were relieved just to be able to play the game.
Last season, when the COVID-19 virus cancelled the spring sports season in Nebraska, it looked grim for a possible American Legion baseball season for 2020. Fortunately for players and coaches, the season was able to happen last year, but not start until the middle of June.
When asked about what he was excited for, Seniors coach Richard Warner said, “Just to play and having a full season.”
The Seniors bounced back from the loss to Nebraska City and defeated Lincoln Lutheran by a score of 4-2 on Sunday, May 23. On May 26, the First National Bank of Johnson Seniors rolled Lincoln Christian 11-3
