WESLEY (WES) CARLTON MEDLIN

Wesley (Wes) Carlton Medlin, 86, passed away at his home in Woodland, California on May 6, 2021. Wesley was born August 2, 1934, in Trowbridge, Calif., to Earl and Doris (Butler) Medlin. Wes’ mother passed away when Wes was eight months old. His maternal grandparents, Edith and Elbert Butler, cared for Wes until he was two years old. At that time Earl’s brother, Everette, and Doris’ sister, Louise, married and took him to raise as their son.

Wesley was preceded in death by his biological parents and by his “adopted” parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith (Lampe) Medlin; his son Douglas Medlin and wife Theresa; his daughter Maria Stapleton and husband Darrin; four grandchildren: Melanie Tanner (wed to Benjamin), Rebecca Massa (wed to Justin), Christopher Medlin, and Zoë Medlin and three step grandchildren: Karly, Nick, and Hayden Stapleton; and siblings Eileen Vestal and Lloyd Medlin along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Wesley served 22 years in the military (four years in the US Navy and 18 years in the US Air Force), retiring in 1973. Following that, he was employed by PIRMI/Anheuser Busch in Woodland, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1993.

He will be put to rest at the Sheridan West Cemetery at Auburn, Neb., near his wife’s parents, Arthur and Leona Lampe. There will be no service, per Wesley’s wishes.
