WANDA L. GARDNER

1934-2022

Wanda Lou (Rickman) Gardner, daughter of Harley and Hazel (Dixon) Rickman, was born May 3, 1934, in Dunnegan, Missouri. She graduated from high school in Nemaha, Nebraska.

On December 19, 1953, Wanda was united in marriage to Gary Glen Gardner in Fremont, Nebraska. They would be blessed with two children, Rick and Kim, and eventually moved to Nemaha to live and work and raise their children.

Although Wanda always considered running the household and raising her children to be her main job, she also worked outside the home at times. She had been employed at Danny Dare Manufacturing and LT&T in Auburn, Nebraska.

Wanda was a member of first the Nemaha Christian Church and then the Nemaha United Methodist Church. She had belonged to a bowling league and enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. Most of all, she loved being with her grandkids and other family.

Wanda was admitted to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn and then transferred to Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She became a resident of The Monarch assisted living facility in Lincoln on April 8, 2022. It was there she passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, having reached the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary, sister and brother-in-law Marge and Bill Haws, brother Bueford Rickman, and brothers-in-law Ron Gardner and Duane Johnson.

Wanda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Rick (Barbara) Gardner of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Donald Zierke of Keystone, S.D.; grandchildren Gabe (Debra) Gardner, Richelle (Patrick) McMahon, Hannah (Ryan) Quiring, Haley (Ryan) Maxson, Hope (Quentin) Kieler; great-grandchildren Carly and Nolan Gardner, Irelynn and Brooks Quiring, Coulter, Koda, and Burke Maxson, Presley and Hayes Kieler; sisters-in-law Margaret Rickman of Whispering Oaks, Michigan; Jan (Ron) Shannon of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carol Johnson of Portland, Oregon; brother-in-law Pat (Chris) Gardner of Lincoln; other relatives and friends.

A graveside memorial and committal service were Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Nemaha Cemetery.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
