WALTER “TOMMY” SIMS

1946-2017

Walter Thomas Sims, one of two children of Walter Scott and Virginia Lou (Blackard) Sims, was born November 16, 1946, in Stockton, California. At a young age, Tommy moved to Illinois where he was raised by his father. Tommy was reunited with his mother around the age of 30, and moved back to California to live with her. He was a big sports fan in general, but baseball played an important part of Tommy’s life. He loved his time spent volunteering with little league boy’s baseball teams. Tommy enjoyed old westerns, John Wayne being one of his favorites. He had a knack for putting together puzzles, and could piece a large one together in no time. Tommy was also a fan of Nebraska football. After the death of his father in 1992, Tommy moved to Auburn, Nebraska to live with his sister Sharon. Recently, his health began to fail, and it was at their home in Auburn that he passed away, on Saturday, August 26, 2017. He had reached the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 10 days. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.
