Shirley M. Majors, 95, of Ericson passed away on May 9, 2018, in Colorado. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Reverend Stefanie Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Wheeler County Foundation or Ord Library Foundation. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Shirley Marie was born December 18, 1922, at Harford, South Dakota to Dr. G.G. and Esther (Holm) Hansen. As an infant she moved to Nebraska with her parents. Shirley graduated from Battle Creek High School and Wayne State College. After teaching at Hartington High School for two years, she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. for a year. On July 5, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Thomas J. Majors. While living in Omaha, she worked for Mutual of Omaha in the claims department for five years. The Majors moved to Peru and Shirley worked in the Registrar’s Office at Peru State College. Shirley taught school at Wheeler Central High School at Bartlett for nineteen years before retiring in 1985. Mr. Majors passed away in 1999. Shirley was a member of the Ericson United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, PEO Chapter BB, Rancherettes, American Legion Auxiliary and NEAR. She received the Knights of Ak-sar-ben Good Neighbor Award for Wheeler County in 2004. She enjoyed playing scrabble, working crossword puzzles, and traveling. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Kristi Majors of Broomfield, Colo.; a grandson, Travis Majors and his wife, Rachel of Denver, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Anne Shirley Majors of Broomfield, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Thomas.
