RANDY L. WAGNER

1953-2018

Randy Lee Wagner, younger of two sons of Fred “Junior” Wagner and Betty (Meredith) Wagner, was born October 7, 1953 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He attended Johnson Public Schools and graduated from Johnson-Brock High School in 1971. Randy worked in Wagner’s Feed Store in Johnson as a young man and became part owner with his brother Terry. The brothers closed the store in 2014 and Randy retired. Always active in his community, Randy was a member and officer, including Fire Chief, of the Johnson Volunteer Fire Department. He belonged to the Johnson Chamber of Commerce and Johnson Area Jaycees as well. Randy often could be heard cheering during a Nebraska football game and will be remembered for his many escapes with friends skiing in Colorado, playing on the First National Bank softball team, or just having a good time. And—as he often yelled at the Johnson Chicken Barbecue— “ROLL ‘EM!” Early in 2018 Randy began suffering from various health problems. He entered St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln on June 11, 2018. On June 19 he was admitted to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. It was there he passed away, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the age of 64 years, 8 months, and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Randy’s zest for life will always be remembered by his brother Terry of Bellevue and special friend Donna Nelson, by many cousins, and by many friends. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Clifford Reynolds, was Monday, June 25, 2018 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Honorary bearers were Don Mathers, Dave Neddenriep, Max Hasselbring, Frank Pelican, Ray Woerlen, and Kenneth Rosenthal. Burial of ashes was in the Johnson Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
