PATSY A. DeFREECE

1946-2019

Patsy Ann (Lesley) DeFreece, daughter of Mattie Murphy, was born October 3, 1946 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She started school in Nebraska City and graduated from Westminster High School in Orange County California.

On February 11, 1983 Patsy was united in marriage to Larry DeFreece at Coryell Park near Brock, Nebraska. They made their home in Nebraska City until moving to Auburn, Nebraska.

Patsy was first and foremost a homemaker. She loved to take care of her children and keep things up around the house. Patsy also worked for 25 years at the American Meter Plant in Nebraska City.

As a member of First Christian Church in Nebraska City, she was involved in church activities as much as she could. In her spare time, Patsy loved to read and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Once again, her favorite pastime was being with family, especially her grandkids.

She passed away at home with family around her on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. She had reached the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 6 days. Patsy was preceded in death by her mother Mattie Murphy, mother- and fatherin-law LaVeta and Gene DeFreece, sisters Imogene Weik and Marvena Kolb, sister-in-law Sharon Jarrett, and brother-in-law Eugene Weible.

Those left to cherish loving memories of Patsy include her husband Larry of Auburn; daughters Jonna Parsons of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Angela (fiance Marc McCaslin) Knickman of Newark, Ohio; Brenda Knickman of Nebraska City; Jennifer (Allen) Hauptman of Peru; grandchildren Desiree Behrends, Matthew Parsons, Shelby Trew (Michael Reed), Wyatt Hauptman, Colton Hauptman, Cheyenne Hauptman, and Walker Hauptman; great-granddaughter Avery Reed; sisters Donnetta Weible of Nebraska City; Doreen (Dean) Hume of Nebraska City; brother Lennie (Dianne) Lahman of Atkinson, Neb.; brother-in-law Art Kolb of Lincoln; brothers-in-law Rich (Beth) DeFreece of North Platte; John (Cindy) De-Freece of Pawnee City; Skip (Rose) DeFreece of Portland, Ore.; Randy DeFreece of Auburn; sisters-in-law Mary Lu (Dave) Young of Tulsa, Okla.; Nancy Jo Hahn of Auburn; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Jerry Albright, was held Monday, January 14, 2019 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Urn bearers were Desiree Behrends, Matthew Parsons, Shelby Trew, Wyatt Hauptman, Colton Hauptman, Cheyenne Hauptman, and Walker Hauptman.

Burial of ashes was in Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
