NORMA LEE THOMAS

1935-2023

Osage City - Norma Lee Thomas, 88, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on January 24, 1935, in Auburn, Nebraska, the daughter of Lee and Elma (Snyder) Armstrong.

Norma grew up around Auburn, Nebraska and had lived in and around Osage City for the last 55 years.

Norma graduated from Peru State College in Nebraska with a degree in Education. She was an Elementary School Teacher for over 25 years and retired from the Marais des Cygnes Valley School District. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osage City, where she had been a member of WELCA and had taught Children’s Sunday School. She had been a 4-H Leader and had delivered Meals on Wheels for over 30 years.

On June 30, 1962, Norma was united in marriage to Guilford William Thomas at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, Nebraska. To this union, four children were born, Sarah, Donnita, Larry, Charles.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Elma; her brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Katie Armstrong; and a brother-inlaw, Vaughn Thompson.

Norma is survived by her husband, Gil, of over 60 years; her four children, Sarah Thomas and Donitta Thomas, both of Topeka, Larry Thomas of Emporia, Charles (Kristi) Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; her granddaughter, Angel Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Thompson of Topeka.
