MAX CULBERTSON

1947-2023

Max Ray Culbertson was born to Fred and Oris (Miller) Culbertson in Coin, Iowa on November 11, 1947. He was one of four children: Kenny, Dale, and Wayne Culbertson. After his schooling, he joined the U.S. Army and spent several years serving his country.

On June 20, 1972, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Vickie Marlene Kearnes in Tarkio, Missouri. They would be blessed with three children: John Ray, Tony Lee, and Mary Marlene Culbertson.

Among other jobs during his lifetime, Max spent several years working at the Missouri Beef Packing Plant in Rock Port, Missouri. He also owned and operated a mechanic shop where he lived in Nemaha, Nebraska.

Max enjoyed working on vehicles, tinkering around in his shop, listening to music, and dancing. Max had a passion for roller skating and, in his youth, would participate in competitions. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren, and others how to roller skate. Max was an animal lover throughout his whole life, always finding time to care for unique animals and allowing kids to have them as pets. For the last six years, he always had his dog, Atlas, faithfully by his side.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Max passed away at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska while surrounded by loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vickie, and brothers Dale and Wayne.
