MARY MAGOR STUCK
Mary Francis Knipe was born February 9, 1926 to William and Ella Knipe in Auburn, Nebraska, the second of three children. After graduating from Auburn High, Mary went to Peru State College, where her nickname was “Legs” after her shapely gams.
The first in the family to achieve a bachelor degree, she began her teaching career in Fremont before her June 1947 to Boyd Magor. Their first child Michael Andrew was born in 1952, followed in 1955 by Ann Elizabeth. This loving marriage on the farm provided an idyllic childhood for Mike and Ann with a white picket fence, cocker spaniel, and a pony.
Mary had a faith in God which enhanced her gentleness, strong opinions, and confidence. She taught her children to always be honest, frugal, and humble. After raising her children to school age, Mary returned to her love of teaching with the Auburn Public Schools system. She taught at Sheridan and Calvert Elementeries until leaving Auburn in 1973. Over the next 10 years, Boyd’s career in materials management led them to experience life in Michigan, California, Washington, Texas, and Louisiana.
After Boyd’s death in 1983, Mary married Dean Stuck. Happily married for 26 years, they lived in Phoenix and sold real estate. During this time, Mary learned to swim and obtained her real estate license. Upon retirement, they returned to their home town of Auburn. After Dean’s death in 2009, Mary moved to Omaha and resided there until her death on January 12, 2019. Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Ella Knipe, her brothers Bill Knipe and Frank Knipe, and two husbands Boyd Magor and Dean Stuck. She is survived by her children Mike and wife Katherine Lenard and Ann and husband Val Oasan, and two grandchildren Tim and Rachel Oasan. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Ken Miller, was Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Janell Johnson was accompanist for solos by Dale Thomas. Chuck Knipe was urn bearer, and burial of ashes was in Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral
