MARJORIE E. “MARGE” RASMUSSEN

1930-2022

Marjorie E. Rasmussen, 91, of Johnson, passed away on March 30, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn, Nebraska. She was born to Albert and Annie (Churches) Modlin on September 3, 1930 on the farm near Tekamah, Nebraska. She was one of nine children born to this union. Marge graduated from Rosalie High School in 1947.

She was united in marriage to William Rasmussen on December 18, 1947 at Blair, Nebraska. They settled in Craig, Nebraska where they started their family. To this union were born, Evelyn, Jim and Debbie. Marge was employed at the Campbell’s Soup Company in Fremont, Nebraska and later transferred to the Tecumseh plant. She and Bill moved to Johnson in 1963. Marge retired early and spent her time taking day trips to the casinos, garage sales, auctions, and taking her grandchildren fishing and mushroom hunting. She also worked for Neighbor to Neighbor in Auburn and babysat for several area families. Marge will especially be remembered for being a people person, her spirited personality and her sense of humor.

Her husband Bill passed away October 4, 1981. Marge continued in live in her home in Johnson until her health declined and she moved to Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh, later transferring to the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn, Nebraska.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Edmonds and her husband Lyle of Edgemont, S.D, James A. Rasmussen and wife Renae of Johnson and Deborah Goracke and her husband Richard of Tecumseh, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband William and her eight brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 2-7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Johnson Legion Building, Main Street, Johnson, Nebraska. A time of fellowship and light food reception will be held.

A register book will available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.
