MARIANNE APPLEGATE

1934-2022

Marianne Applegate age 88 of Louisville, Nebraska passed away on February 28, 2022 at Midlands Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska. She was born on February 23, 1934 in Crab Orchard, Nebraska to Willis and Erma (Steiner) Shuey.

Marianne graduated from Lewiston High School. She attended Peru State College where she obtained a degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten at Louisville Public Schools from 1962 until retiring in 1998. She was active at the Louisville Christian Church where she played the organ for many years. Marianne was a big animal lover, she enjoyed feeding birds and caring for her flower gardens. In retirement, she and Fred enjoyed woodworking projects.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Mike and Lori of Bonita Springs, Florida, Stacy and Barb of Gretna, Neb., and Eugene and Natalie of Plattsmouth, Neb.; grandchildren Brooks Applegate, Chandler Applegate, Chris (Jessica) Applegate, Sam Applegate, Hannah (Mike) Penson, and Robert Applegate; great grandchildren Olivia Grandizio and Penny Applegate; siblings, Keith (Bonnie) Shuey of Tecumseh, Neb., Linda (George) Fewson of Boulder, Colo., Charlene Rasmussen of Boulder, Colo., and Dean (Bobbi) Shuey of Seattle, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, grandson, Steven Applegate, brothers, Milton and Eldon Shuey, brother-in-law, Russell Rasmussen and sister-in-law Marlene Shuey.

A Celebration of Life was held Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Louisville Senior Center, 423 Elm Street, Louisville. Family suggests memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund or Food Bank of the Heartland.

Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Nebraska at a later date.
