LLOYD R. COOK

1938-2016

Lloyd Robert Cook, age 77, formerly of Auburn, Nebraska was born on July 17, 1938 on a farm near Thurman, Iowa to Fred Earl and Ruth Alice (Ralston) Cook. In 1942, he moved with his parents and sister to Wichita, Kansas. After World War II, the family moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska where Lloyd attended the Nebraska School for Visually Impaired in Nebraska City from 1945-1952.

In 1952, Lloyd went to live with his parents on a farm near Talmage and was baptized at The Charter Oak Christian Church in Talmage, Nebraska where he was a member. Lloyd moved with his parents to Cook, Nebraska in 1969 and they later transferred their membership to St. Paul’s Church of Christ in rural Cook. Lloyd was a resident of the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice, Nebraska from 1971-1974 and began working at S.E.N.D.S. in Auburn in 1974 while living in Cook. He later moved to Auburn in 1984 and continued his employment.

Lloyd later became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn where he was currently a member. In 2015, he became a resident of the Ambassador Nursing Home in Nebraska City when his health began to decline.

Lloyd passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at the Ambassador Nursing Home in Nebraska City having reached the earthly age of 77 years, four months, and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rose Marie Pursel and brother-in-law Robert Pursel.

Lloyd is survived by his niece Cheryl Alvis and her husband John of Austin, Texas; cousins: Mary Beth Akers and her husband Vernon of Weskan, Kan.; Diana Sue Vernon of Craig, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, with Pastor Ken Miller officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment will be at the Grant Evergreen Cemetery in rural Talmage.

Memorials contributions may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund or Federation for the Blind.
