LeRoy Henry Bergmann, 71 of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. LeRoy was born December 19, 1946, in Humboldt, Nebraska, the son of Martin Fred and LaVerda Nadine (Schuette) Bergmann. He graduated from Auburn Senior High School in 1965 and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. On October 9, 1976, LeRoy was united in marriage to Kathy Huntrods at the Collins Christian Church in Collins. The couple moved to Nevada in 1991. He worked 6 1/2 years for Davis County as an engineer before going to work for the Iowa DOT in 1987, first in Atlantic and then Ames, retiring in 2010. LeRoy was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Nevada and Memorial Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing the piano, organ, woodworking and being involved with Nevada Fine Arts. LeRoy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy of Nevada; his son, Charles (Amanda) Bergmann of Maxwell; two grandchildren: Easton and Basil; his mother, LaVerda Bergmann of Auburn, Neb.; his sister, Patricia (Larry) Holtzman of Auburn, Neb.; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 13 at Memorial Lutheran Church (701 11th Street) in Nevada. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14 also at the church with Pastors Myron Herzberg and David Burling officiating. Inurnment will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Club of Nevada or the Israel Family Hospice House. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
