KIRK O. KUWITZKY
Kirk O. Kuwitzky was born on March 14, 1953 in Auburn, Nebraska to Bonnie and Joseph Kuwitzky He was the oldest of four boys. Kirk graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn in 1971. He attended The Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and then finished his undergraduate and graduate degrees at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1978. He went on to have a long and tenured law career.
Kirk was a sports enthusiast, avid traveler, and devoted father. As much as he loved all sports, he loved the game of golf more than any other. He enjoyed attending golf tournaments and playing golf any chance he got. He was a proud member of the Hickory Golf Association and wore, what his kids called, “ridiculous” outfits. After retirement he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in his RV. During this time, he traveled thousands of miles and visited 41 states making new friends and visiting old ones along the way. Funny enough, being a “Cornhusker” and from the great state of Nebraska, Kirk despised corn.
His three children were the greatest accomplishments of his life. Bragging about them may have been his favorite hobby. He coached many of their sports teams when they were young, and if not coaching he was on the sidelines cheering them on. He loved playing cards and taught his children how to play cribbage and many other card games. He had no mercy when it came to playing against his kids, or anyone else for that matter.
Kirk died Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Joseph Kuwitzky.
Kirk is survived by his children: Erin and Mike Johnson of Denver, Colo., Caroline and Garrett Scharton of Dallas, Texas and Brett Kuwitzky of Boise, Idaho; his grandsons, Smith Johnson and Lincoln Scharton; his brothers T.J (Susan) Kuwitzky, Kent (Barb) Kuwitzky, and Todd (Susan) Kuwitzky; his nephew Kyle Kuwitzky; his nieces Shannon Parker, Kelly Kuwitzky and Kristen Critchfield.
Monarch Society of Denver is in charge of services.
Cremation took place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time.
