KATHY KNEPP

1948-2023

Kathryn Ann (Jeffers) Knepp, one of six children of Charles and Florence (Broz) Jeffers, was born November 30, 1948, in McCook, Nebraska. She grew up and attended school in Hayes Center, Nebraska. She lived most of her life in Hayes Center, Curtis and McCook, NE until moving to Auburn, Nebraska in 2007, where her daughter Shelly lives and to be closer to her grandkids.

While in Auburn Kathy worked as a caretaker with Region V Services for 10 years, retiring in 2017. She attended Calvary Christian Center Assemblies of God Church in Auburn. Kathy loved watching her grandkids sports and other activities, even if it meant traveling many hours to attend.

She enjoyed reading and in her earlier years loved to sew. She was appreciated by her family for her cooking and baking and was known to have made up to a dozen pies for family holiday get-togethers.

Kathy passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth’s in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 74. Her parents and sister Margaret Schumann preceded her in death.

Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Shelly (Scott) Teten of Auburn, Sheila (Anthony) Lewis of Lee’s Summit, MO; and son Jeffrey Villegas of Nebraska City; grandchildren Nathan (Erin) Teten, Ashley Teten, Santana Lewis, and Easton Lewis, Jalen and Cameron Lewis; great-grandchildren Jackson and Barrett Teten; sisters Janet (Jerry) Rucker of Arvada, CO, Rita (Donald) Steinke of Windsor, CO, Patty (Scott) Laird of Hayes Center, NE; brother Larry Jeffers of Hayes Center, NE; brotherin- law Neil Schuman of Castle Rock, CO; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Adam Blondo, was Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Casket bearers were Jeff Villegas, Nathan Teten, Easton Lewis, Scott Teten, Anthony Lewis, and Kenny Lavigne. Honorary bearers were Neil Schuman, Jerry Rucker, Donald Steinke, Scott Laird, and Eddie Villegas. Burial followed in Glenrock Cemetery near Brock.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
