KATHRYN ANN BYFIELD

KATHRYN ANN BYFIELD

1937-2022

Kathryn Ann Byfield, 84, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022.

She was born in Peru on August 16, 1937 and grew up in Peru and Superior graduating in May 1955. Kathy married Gene Byfield on April 24, 1955. They had six children.

Throughout her life she worked different jobs, but her favorites were Good Samaritan Society and Longs Creek in Auburn. Kathy really enjoyed taking care of all the clients that lived there. She was so giving, gentle and loved taking care of other people. Kathy especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies were planting flowers and sewing different projects.

Kathy taught her children values and how to be responsible adults. During a crisis, she was the glue that held her family together so that they can tide over the difficulties they were facing. If it weren’t for Kathy’s bravery, the family would probably have fallen apart at the first sign of struggle. She had a kind soul and never had a negative word to say about anyone. Kathy taught everyone to be kind, loving, forgiving, to work hard for what you want out of life and to always live for the future.

She is survived by Larry (Cindy) Byfield of Auburn, Beverly (Linn) DeBuhr, Cathy Kronyak of Carlstadt, N.J., Patty (Dan) Johanningmeier of Columbia, Mo., Richard (Toni) Byfield of Auburn and Janet (Mike) Andrew of Auburn; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded by her husband Gene; her parents Joe and Margarite Standley; Gene’s parents Harold and Anna Byfield; son-in-law Gary LaVigne and two grandchildren Baby Gene Byfield and Vanessa Lefler.

A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at Sheridan West Cemetery in Auburn. There will be a luncheon after the memorial service for a Celebration of Life at the 4-H Building in Auburn.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Auburn Rescue Squad or Nemaha County Giving Hope Cancer Fund and may be sent to Janet Andrew at 1516 L Street, Auburn NE 68305.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
