1949-2018

Jason L. Laxdal, age 68 of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at CHI Health Nebraska Heart in Lincoln. Jason was born June 10, 1949 the son of Moritz and Doris Laxdal. The family lived in Gardar, N.D. then on a farm near Gardar. Jason graduated from Edinburg High School and later attended North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton receiving a degree in accounting/business. After the death of his father, Jason took over the family cattle hauling business and raised cattle on the family farm. Later he moved to Aneta, N.D. and started a Purina feed business and managed a locker plant. Jason was the mayor of Aneta and was very involved in the annual turkey barbecue. During this time Jason and his brother Darryl had a trucking business as well as dairy cattle. Jason married Jeni Gehrke and in 1991 the family moved to Auburn, Nebraska. They later divorced. While living in Auburn he worked for a feed mill. Jason was a trucker and hauled feeds and other products to other states. In 2015 health conditions caused him to slow down, but he continued to work in the trucking industry. Jason enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, cooking, having coffee with friends, and Nascar. Some of his special joys were visiting his step-grandchildren. Survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law Darryl and Diana Laxdal of Clearbrook, Minn., Noel and Marla Laxdal of Bismarck, N.D.; sister Kathy Laxdal of Steele, N.D.; step-daughter Amber and husband Keith Jones of Auburn; step-son Dustin Noyes of Auburn; step-grandchildren Lane and Halle Jones, and Laila Allen; nieces and nephews Rianna Laxdal, Wyatt Laxdal (Mirrissa Cummings, significant other), and Marisa Laxdal; great-nieces Mara, Malea, and Braeyln; other relatives and many friends. Jason was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Ken Miller. A funeral and burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Gardar, N.D. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
