Janice Evelyn (Tudor) Freeman was born September 19, 1941 in Rock Port, Missouri. She was one of three children of Ira and Beulah (Henderson) Tudor, and stepfather, James Smith. Janice passed peacefully from this life on April 30, 2017 at her home. She has been a lifelong member of the Rock Port community. She attended Rock Port schools and graduated in May of 1959. On December 10, 1960, Janice was united in marriage to Marvin Earle Freeman at the United Methodist Church in Rock Port. Three beautiful daughters were born to this union: Susan Janae, Diane Renae, and Carol Lynne. Janice was employed in 1961 with the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS) for 34 years, retiring in October of 1994. Following retirement, she and Marvin were employed with Power Plant Maintenance. They enjoyed traveling and working at various locations throughout the United States. Family was the center of Janice’s life. She and Marvin were giant supporters of their children. They attended all school and sporting events of all three girls. This kept both of them busy while the girls were growing up. Janice was an avid golfer and a member of the Rock Port Golf and Country Club and Tarkio Country Club. She enjoyed playing ladies league golf. She participated in many golf tournaments throughout her life with her husband, her girls, and friends. She took pleasure in bowling, and played with the Rock Port league. Janice loved watching her grandkids at their sporting events, sharing family dinners and providing endless golf cart rides through the park. Janice especially cherished her great-grandson, Berringer. He was the sunshine in her eyes and became his dedicated reading partner. Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by sister, Betty (Tudor) Amthor; brother, Allen Tudor; two nephews, Craig Allen Tudor and Johnny Ray Amthor; one step-sister, Effie Harris; one step-brother, James D. Smith; sister-in-law, Shirley (Freeman) Fischer, and brothers-in-law, Wm. (Bill) Fischer and Larry Freeman. Janice is survived by her husband and life-long partner, Marvin E. Freeman, Rock Port; three daughters, Susan J. (Bentley) Brown, Auburn, Nebraska, Diane R. (Bobby) Ollis, and Carol L. Freeman, all of Hartsville, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Emily (Brian) Zech, Bailey Collins, Hannah Brown, all of Auburn, and Chase Ollis, Hartsville; one great-grandson, Berringer Zech, Auburn; two step-brothers, Butch Smith, Brownville, Nebraska, and Jerry Smith, Yale, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley (Sandra) Freeman, Tarkio, Missouri; sisterin- law, Karen Freeman, Smithville, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 2017, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. Interment followed in Greenhill Cemetery at Rock Port. Memorials are suggested to American Breast Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association or Rock Port Senior Center.
