GARY D. GROVE

Gary Dale Grove was born December 28, 1957 to Francis A. Grove and Maxine (McAlexander) Grove in Syracuse, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm east of Elk Creek, Nebraska and attended school in Tecumseh.

Gary worked at SENDS and Tiny’s Café in Auburn, Nebraska and the VFW Club and Smart Chicken in Tecumseh. He also worked at Haverkamp Brothers Farms in rural Auburn.

He appreciated family and friends. Gary was fun-loving and had a hard time keeping a straight face when he was trying to fool you! He loved his pets and shooting his guns at target practice.

Gary was diligent in helping to care for his parents as their health declined. He, himself, had numerous surgeries in the last few years and was a resident at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh.

After being admitted to Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska he passed away there peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 8 days. His parents, brother Francis, Jr., and sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Richard Johnson preceded him in death.

Gary is survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Grove of Auburn; nieces and nephews David (Susan) Grove of Kearney; Diane Prewitt of Overland Park, Kansas; Mike Grove of Lincoln; Dale (Connie) Johnson of Bellevue; Kenny (DeAnn) Johnson of Unadilla; Brenda (Albert) Ensor of Auburn; great-nieces and -nephews, and many friends.

A graveside funeral and committal service, officiated by Rev. Eric Spruth-Janssen, was held Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Tecumseh Cemetery in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Casket bearers were Mike Davison, Larry Bohling, Greg McAlexander, John Schultz, Duane Kuhl, and Theron Guenther.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn.
