FRIEDA K. STAHL

1929-2019

Frieda Katherine (Bohling) Stahl was born September 25, 1929 in Garnovillo, Iowa. Six months later she was adopted by William D. and Augusta W. (Rogge) Bohling from Lutheran Children’s Home in Muscatine, Iowa. She moved to the farm west of Auburn, Nebraska where she would spend the rest of her life. Frieda attended Rohrs District 80 School near her home, and graduated from Auburn High School.

On May 27, 1956 Frieda was married to Lawrence H. Stahl at St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church. They made their home on the farm where Frieda grew up, and were blessed with two sons, Douglas and David.

Frieda had worked in Auburn at the Ford Garage, Carson National Bank, Danny Dare, and the Auburn Veterinary Clinic. She loved helping on the farm, running the household, and raising her two boys. She was mechanically inclined and enjoyed being outdoors.

A lifelong member of Hickory Grove Church, Frieda was involved in many church activities and was a member of Priscilla Circle. In her younger years she had played on the Auburn girl’s softball team. She played the guitar, enjoyed fishing, and was known for making her “Stahlmark Cards” for birthdays and other occasions. Her favorite pastime of all was watching her sons and grandchildren in their school sporting events.

Due to health reasons, Frieda entered the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn near the end of March 2019. She passed away there, with family around her, on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 12 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and a sisterin-law Eunice Epp.

Frieda is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Kelly Stahl of Johnson; David and Diane Stahl of Auburn; grandchildren Paige Stahl and fiance` Levi Patton, Nicholas Stahl, Tawna and husband Ryan Bennett; sisters and brothersin-law Janyce and Dick Heywood of Auburn; Myrna and Ray Meister of Fremont; Ardis and Joe Schenk of Bad Axe, MI; sister- and brother-in-law Betty and Ron Schroeder of Liberty, Neb.; brother-in-law Dean Epp of Plymouth, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was Thursday, April 11, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church near Auburn, officiated by Rev. Paul Lillenas. Eiber Alberts played the prelude, and Deanne Gerking and Kim Kruger were accompanists for congregational singing.

Burial of ashes will be at a later date in St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Cemetery.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
