DOROTHY GRACE WILLIAMS

1922-2016
Dorothy Grace Williams, 93, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Camanche, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook, Bettendorf. Services were held Saturday, October 8 at the Prairie Union Baptist Church, rural Shubert, Nebraska. Burial was in the Prairie Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were family members. Honorary pallbearer was Jim Findley. Dorothy Grace Eichstaedt was born December 21, 1922 in Nemaha County, Nebraska, the daughter of John William and Edna Lucille (Lucas) Eichstaedt. On June 11, 1950, she married Robert G. Williams at the home where she was born. She and Robert lived on the home farm until 1957 and they settled in Camanche, Iowa in 1964. Dorothy was a Stella, Neb. High School graduate and graduated from Peru State College, Peru, Neb. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Camanche and the Order of Eastern Star. Dorothy had been employed as a teacher in Nebraska for more than nine years. After teaching she was a homemaker and reared her family. Survivors include her husband, Robert of Bettendorf, Iowa; daughter, Peggy (Ross) Lanphere of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sons, Glenn (Carla) Williams of Fulton, Illinois, and J.L. (Ann) Williams of LeClaire, Iowa; grandchildren, Robert Lanphere, Angie Sower, Michelle Steckman, A.J. Williams, Laken Williams, Jordan Williams, Kerri Kudelka, Brandon VanBlaricome and Bryan Lohse and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C Cook Hospice House, the Camanche Fire Department or the Camanche Masonic Lodge #60.
