DEL PRICE

1950-2017

Price, age 66, of Curtis, Nebraska, died May 1, 2017 while enjoying what he loved, shooting out at the gun range. Born July 12, 1950 in Sabetha, Kansas, Del is son to David and Bernece (Graham) Price. He spent his formative years in Auburn, Neb., graduating from Auburn High School in 1968. Del married the love of his life, Janice Buchholz, on June 22, 1982, but they have been together for more than the 35 years of their marriage. Del and Jan are proud parents to three children-- Beau, Michelle and Jennifer. Del served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army from January 1971 to November 1972 with 12 months spent in Vietnam. Del was extremely proud of his Veteran status and those who have been to “The Hideout” can attest to his patriotism. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Del went to work for Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years, until his retirement. Union Pacific took the family from Nebraska to Utah, where they lived from 1988 to 1998, when they finally decided to return to their Nebraska roots and make Curtis their retirement community. Del rarely was without a camera, capturing family and friends’ extremely candid moments while recording the numerous hunting and camping adventures he enjoyed over his lifetime. Additionally, Del was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the Wildlife Gun Club, and taught numerous concealed carry classes to Curtis community members. Del is survived by his loving wife, Janice Price of Curtis, Neb.; his son Beau (Jessica) Price; his daughter Michelle (Lennie) Axelson; and his daughter Jennifer (Bob) Newcomb. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Kelsie, Lucas, Harper and Lainey; brother Terry (Nancy) Price; brotherin- law Milton Buchholz; sister-inlaw Karen (Brian) Smith; and many extended family members and friends. Del was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. Visitation was held at Blase-Wetzel- Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, on Thursday, May 4. Funeral services were held at the Curtis Memorial Community Center, Friday, May 5, 2017. Interment followed in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Neb. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later time.
