DEE ANN CHUBICK

1961-2018

Dee Ann (Pohlman) Chubick, daughter of Kenneth Lee and Norma (Lacey) Pohlman, was born May 1, 1961 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Dee’s father passed before she was born, and she was raised by Pat Burns, who she considered her father. She attended Tecumseh Public Schools, where she graduated from high school. Dee took a job with the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn after high school. She met Jerry Chubick in the winter of 1982. They dated off and on, and then got serious! Dee and Jerry were married on September 19, 1987 in Tecumseh at the home of Dee’s brother. They made their home in Auburn, and were blessed with the addition of two children, Alex and Nikki. After working at Good Sam, Dee cooked at the Dairy Sweet in Auburn, and at Wheeler Inn. She also was a waitress at her mom’s café in Tecumseh, The Country Cottage. As she raised her own children, Dee ran a Day Care in her home. After the kids were grown she took a job at Glenn’s Corner Market until retiring for health reasons. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Dee belonged to the Tecumseh, Auburn, and Brock churches throughout her life. She was an active member of the Auburn JayCees and held several offices in the organization. In her spare time Dee enjoyed reading or watching game shows or sitcoms on TV. She also enjoyed the time she got to spend with her family—she loved being around her loved ones and never missed any activities that her kids participated in. As her health began to worsen, Dee was able to stay at her home with the care of Jerry, other family, and health professionals. She passed away at home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the age of 57 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Her biological father Kenneth and infant brother Brian preceded her in death. Dee is survived by her husband Jerry of Auburn; son Alex of Los Angeles; daughter Nikki Chubick and fiancé Brandon Whittington of Maryville, Missouri; grandson Kaiser; parents Pat and Norma Burns of Tecumseh; brothers and sisters-in-law Dean and Leann Pohlman of Eagle; Larry and Jean Pohlman of Syracuse; sister Patty Burns of Beatrice; many other relatives and many friends. A funeral service was held Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Emily Spearman-Cannon. Jeff Domino, Clay Carnahan, Steve Neemann, Gary Johnson, Donnie Johnson, and Rich Wilson served as casket bearers. Burial followed in Sheridan West Cemetery at Auburn. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
