DEBORAH J. SAPP

Deborah Jean Sapp was born December 23, 1955 in Long Beach, California. Her birth mother placed Debby with an adoption service shortly after birth. Raymond and Maxine Mortensen and sister Cheryl of Los Angeles welcomed Debby to their home in 1958. Debby attended grade school in Southern California. In 1963 her mother Maxine passed away. For a time in the 1960’s, Debby came to Nebraska to live with her Aunt Janet Uribe’s family.

Debby later returned to California and lived with her sister Cheryl and Terry’s family. Debby graduated from high school in Claremont, California in 1974. After a period of time working and enjoying life on the beach in Newport, Calif.; Debby decided to return to Nebraska and settled in Auburn.

She married Barry Gerdes and they had one son, Trevor. They later divorced. In 1985, Debby married Bruce Sapp. In 1988 they moved to Lincoln, Debby worked at various jobs, two of her favorite jobs were at Wilderness Kennels near Roca and helping Carie start her pet grooming shop in Arlington, Neb. Some of Debby’s most cherished memories were of the times spent near the ocean and beaches with her family and friends in southern California.

The family is very thankful for the care given to Debby by the Horisun Hospice Staff and The Monarch Staff on her final journey.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Sapp; son, Trevor Gerdes; daughters, Carie Sapp of Arlington, Neb. and Abby (Jeremy) Tipton, of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Hanna Gerdes, Lawson Oerman and Jordan Tipton; brother in law, Terry Kramer of Atascadero, CA and brother in law, Mark (Sandi) Sapp of Hickman, Neb.; nephews, Mike, David, and Dan Kramer and cousins, Lori Uribe, Christy Martin, Carrie Honz and Randy Uribe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Maxine Mortensen; sister, Cheryl Kramer and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Debby’s Life will be Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Private inurnment will be a later date. Memorials can be directed to the family for future designation.
