DAVID (BUTCH) MATHEWS

David (Butch) Mathews of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Auburn and Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019. He graduated in 1969 from Southeast Consolidated High School in Stella, Neb. Dave moved to Omaha where he met Ruth Rasmussen whom he would marry on November 29, 1974 in Ruth’s hometown of Aurora, Colorado.

Dave had numerous jobs and interests throughout he life. His favorites were his children, grandchildren, Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee, his church and woodworking.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents Don and Doris Mathews, his father-in-law Maynard Rasmussen and several aunts, uncles and cousin.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Peter and girlfriend Ashley and children Ariyah, Cashton, Kasen and Presley of Tucson, Sarah and Leah both of Tucson, and Phillip and girlfriend Alyssa and daughter Avery of Mesa, Arizona, sister Shirley Drake and husband Robert nephews and niece Steve and Mike Drake of Auburn, Neb., and Michelle Muth and husband Danny of San Antonio, Texas, and cousin Pat Magaha and husband Ellis of Maryville, Tenn., and many, many friends.

A memorial service was held at Desert Hope Lutheran church in Tucson on October 19, 2019.
