BETTY (REEVES) CLARK

1936-2019

Betty Joan (Reeves) Clark 82, of Tecumseh, formerly of Pawnee City, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh. She was born on December 5, 1936 to Arthur and Berniece (Bray) Reeves in rural Nemaha County, Nebraska.

She grew up on the farm near Peru and attended several country elementary schools and graduated from Peru Prep High School. She went to Peru State College for a semester.

Betty worked at a restaurant for a while and then started working in the cafeteria at Peru State and later cooked at the Bob Inn for many years. From there she received the nickname “Bobcat Betty.” Betty retired in 1988 after working there for 38 years. Betty received an honorary doctorate from Peru State College. She was a mother to many, many college students during that time period.

She married Charles Clark in 1988 at the courthouse in Tecumseh and they resided in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She worked at the VFW Club in Pawnee City serving breakfast for several years. She and her husband Charles enjoyed gardening and going dancing and spoiling their grandchildren. Charles passed away in 2007. She stayed in Pawnee City until her health declined and she moved to Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh, later transferring to Belle Terrace. Betty loved her cats, her family, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Berniece Reeves, husband, Charles Clark, sister, Marie Simpson and brothers, Jack Reeves, Sr. and Ron Reeves.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Dennis) Britt of Tecumseh, grandchildren, Daniel Britt of Tecumseh, Stacie (Tim) VanLaningham of Cook, Elizabeth (Brian) Johnson of Tecumseh, great grandchildren, Tylese Baisden, Kasha Marroquin, Madison VanLaningham, Sean Britt, Matthew Dorn and Aurora VanLaningham, brother, Terry (Jean) Reeves of Peru and sister-in-law, Kay Reeves of AL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Hall Funeral Home, 707 15th Street, Auburn, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, Nebraska and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Pallbearers are John Simpson, Jamie Reeves, Jack Reeves, Jr., Brett Reeves, Tim VanLaningham and Dan Britt. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cheryl Meister, organist, will accompany Carol Ensor, vocalist, as she sings, “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, rural Peru, Nebraska. Memorials to the American Cancer Society. Services are entrusted to Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
