ARNOLD KRAHN

1933-2022

Arnold Krahn, one of four children of Henry and Tina (Warkentin) Krahn, was born June 25, 1933, at Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Arnold’s father passed away when he was a young boy and his mother remarried John Vogt, who helped raise Arnold, and Arnold also gained a step-brother. Arnold began his early education in Mountain Lake, and then at Windom, Minnesota, graduating from Windom High School with the class of 1953.

On July 11, 1954, Arnold was united in marriage to Valla Pearl Edwards at Valla’s parents’ home that did not have air conditioning, on a day that was over 100˚. The Lord blessed the couple with three children: Arla, Bona, and Curtis. They made their home and raised their children in southwest Minnesota, living in Windom, Delft, and Storden.

Arnold worked many different jobs throughout his lifetime. In Storden, Arnold and Valla owned a grocery store for about 10 years before trading it for a hobby farm. They rented out the land, but Arnold raised a variety of animals including sheep, heifers, and a cow. They would eventually sell the farm and move to Arizona, until Valla’s parents passed away and they then made their home in Auburn, Nebraska.

A special interest of Arnold’s was following NASCAR racing. Arnold was fortunate enough to travel to and attend many different races.

After Valla’s passing in 2015, Arnold remained at home for several years before moving to Maple Crest Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska on August 29, 2018. It was there that Arnold passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, having reached the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 26 days. In addition to his father, and wife, Arnold was preceded in death by his step-father John, mother Tina, step-brother Willard and wife Marna Vogt, and daughter Bona Joye.

Arnold is survived by his daughter and sonin-law Arla and Gary Vohnout of Omaha; son Curt Krahn of Dodge Center, MN; son-in-law Bruce Joye of Palm Bay, FL; grandchildren Katie (Curtis) Marking, Casey (Tiffany) Vohnout, Brittany Joye; great-grandchildren Karina, Avery, and Atticus Vohnout;sisters and brother-in-law Rosella Friesen, Deloris (Marvin) Regehr; brother Richard Krahn all of Mountain Lake, MN; other relatives and friends.
