February Was Much Colder, Slightly Drier Than Normal

February 2021 averaged 12.7 degrees below normal, the coldest since 1989. The maximum temp was 63 degrees on February 23rd, just seven days after the month’ minimum temperature of -32. There were four days of maximums at or below zero, the most on record, eclipsing the 1899 mark of three. The 13 days of subzero minimums were the most in February since the record of 15 days set in 1936. It was the the first time since 1996 that a daily maximum remained below zero in February. There were 17 maximums at or below freezing, which is eight more than normal.

Peru Community Town Hall Set March 9; Every Other Month Meetings Planned

The Peru community and surrounding areas are invited to a Town Hall on March 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Peru State College Performing Arts Center or by Zoom video conference. The event will feature the following topics: progress on joining Auburn water system; update on current, temporary water treatment system in Peru; and an update on grants to fund construction of new water treatment system.
