SATURDAY MORNING, April 10, Auburn residents had the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste materials. Motorists wait in line to enter the parking lot adjoining Auburn Optimist Lake to turn in cleaning products, lawn and garden chemicals, paint, used oil and fluorescent light bulbs among other items. It was a service through a coalition of organizations and volunteers concerned about the environment. A grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust was supplemented by assistance from Nemaha and other Southeast Nebraska counties. Five Rivers Resource Conservation and Development also helped. Besides Auburn; Fairbury, Pawnee City, Falls City and Tecumseh also had collection sites. Nemaha County Herald photo by Kendall Neiman
