2018 BPW Budget Approved

The Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) approved its 2018 budget Thursday night, Oct. 12. The budget is being submitted to the Auburn City Council Monday, Nov. 13 for its approval.

Information in the proposal noted 2017 electrical sales as of Monday, Oct. 9 are nearly average and ahead of last year. 2016 sales were 42 million kilowatts. Year to date average in 2017 is 44 kilowatts. Overall wholesale power costs are showing an increase of about 1 percent this year. While unit costs have not changed much the load factor for 2017 is running lower than 2016.

The electrical department is budgeting $6,200,799 for 2018. Estimated 2017 electric revenue will be around $6,238,339. Wholesale power covers 61 percent of expenses. Depreciation and payments to cities and villages is 10 percent combined. Since 2005, total expenses have increased an average of 3 percent annually.
