Value of Public Power Spotlighted At Auburn BPW 80th Anniversary

Public ownership allows local control and management of all utility decisions, Jim Grant said Tuesday afternoon, April 23.

Grant, 20-year Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) member and Chuck Knipe, current chair spoke during the utility’s 80th anniversary celebration. Grant served from January 1988 through December 2007. Knipe joined the board in 2013.

“We have great employees. They’re hard working and dedicated people. They’re interested in keeping the public safe. We have a commitment to community service and meeting local needs. We have a good board and I am proud to be on it. It’s a lot more involved than I ever thought it would be,” Knipe related.

Other current board members are Dan Buman, Phil Shaw, Rich Wilson and Dr. Mike Zaruba.
