Southeast District Health Dept. Reminds Community to Receive the Flu Vaccine

With influenza season currently underway, the Southeast District Health Department would like to remind you to take steps to protect your health and the health of those around you.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all persons aged 6 months and older receive the flu vaccine. Vaccination is considered the best protection against the flu, and frequently decreases the severity and duration of symptoms for those exposed to the influenza virus. Symptoms generally include fever, body aches, cough, and sore throat, and can progress to hospitalization and death in more severe cases. The CDC reported that as many as 80,000 influenza-related deaths were recorded across the United States during the 2017-2018 flu season.
