Purchase of 350 Chromebooks; Administrative Salaries Okayed on May 11 by APS Board of Ed

A $74,700 bid on Chromebooks was accepted Monday night, May 11 by the Auburn Public Schools (APS) Board of Education. The approximately 360 tablets will be used by students in grades seven through 12 next school year.

In addition to the tablets, the offer from Firefly Computers includes operating systems management and protective sleeves. The devices provide remote learning opportunities for students.

Other quotes received were $74,689.20 from Sterling Computers and $74,257.20 from GovConnection. The higher bid was allowed because Firefly has the Chromebooks in stock. The equipment would have to be ordered from the other companies.

The entities also submitted proposals without the protective covers. Those respective totals were $70,009.20 from Sterling Computers; $69,746.40 from GovConnection and $69,480 from Firefly Computers.
