Previous and Current Service members Casey, Alicia Moyer Given Quilts of Valor

Late Saturday afternoon, March 30, Casey and Alicia Moyer of Auburn were conferred Quilts of Valor (QOV). The presentation took place at El Portal Mexican Restaurant.

“I am humbled to stand before you who have served our country, performed your duty and fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. We wouldn’t have these freedoms if not for those such as Casey and Alicia,” said Nancy Meinzer. She is recipient coordinator of Lincoln QOV under the direction of Julie Schroeder, group leader.

A U.S. Army veteran, Casey Moyer was a Specialist E4 upon discharge. It is the most common rank held by U.S. Army soldiers. Alicia Moyer is still serving her nation and is a Sergeant E5. It is the lowest rank in the sergeant chain.

Meinzer noted the quilts contain a three-part message:

–honoring recipients for their service,

–thanking those for serving and sacrificing while recognizing the cost of our freedom is the dedication of the lives of men and women such as the Moyers and

–comforting them. “Although your families and friends can’t always be with you at all times, you are forever in our thoughts and our hearts. How grateful we are that you are receiving the quilts,” she stated.
