Nov. 30 Decorating Kicks Off Holiday Festivities in Peru

The Peru Community Impact Group (PCIG) is offering a series of COVID-friendly holiday events for Peru area residents. It wants to bring un and cheer during a difficult time.

“It has been a difficult few years. PCIG is pledging to make an impact on our communities’ mental wellness over the holiday and into the new year. We are offering a variety of activities including a holiday decorating contest, Santa Claus street stops in collaboration with the Peru Volunteer Fire Department and special deliveries to bring joy to our community,” said Vanessa Sherman, president of the organization.

The City of Peru and PCIG will kick off the Yuletide season with holiday decorating on Monday, Nov. 30. Community members are invited to help “light the town” that day. Prizes are being awarded to the top three decorated properties on Sunday, Dec. 13. Funding through Nebraska Extension’s grant-funded project, Wellness in Tough Times is being utilized.
