Nemaha NRD Board Prepares for Opening Duck Creek Rec Area

Tecumseh – The regular meeting of the Nemaha Natural Resources District was called to order on Thursday, March 8, at the office at Tecumseh. On the agenda was discussion about the process for groundwater rule changes, but no action was taken. The staff continues to work on development goals within the management areas that are being considered. As part of the plan, the board also approved a contract with WSP Engineering to provide consulting assistance on several projects including installation of monitoring wells and preparation of maps and reports based on new aerial data collection. It’s estimated the contract, which will run through June, 2019, will come in around $60,000.

With the Duck Creek Recreation Area northwest of Peru slated to open in mid-April, several more decisions were made regarding the park. Quotes for signs within the park were reviewed, and the low quote from Cornhusker State Industries was approved at an estimated total cost of $6,815 with posts. Three quotes had been received, and delivery of all signs is required by April 2.
