Nemaha County Hospital Announces The Addition of 3D Mammograms

Nemaha County Hospital announced the acquisition of three-dimensional (3-D) mammography equipment. The addition is a service that will provide quality healthcare in Nemaha County, eliminating the need for local residents to travel to Lincoln or Omaha for screening.

 

The exam allows doctors to examine breast tissue layer by layer. Instead of viewing all the complexities of breast tissue in a flat image, as with conventional two-dimensional (2-D) mammography, fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below.
