Nemaha County Given $40,228 In-Lieu-of-Tax Payment by OPPD

The Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) made an increasing in-lieu-of-tax payment to Nemaha County. The utility’s disbursement to Nemaha County totaled $40,228 compared to $38,236 paid last year.
In-lieu-of-tax amounts are based on 5 percent of OPPD’s gross revenues from the previous year’s retail electricity sales in incorporated cities and villages. They take the place of property taxes. County treasurers distribute the funds to various government agencies, such as cities and school districts to fund needed services and improvements.
