Mayor’s Vote Breaks Tie Regarding Acquiring Option for Property Near High School/Middle School Campus for Proposed Convention Center/Gym

Auburn City Council approved several matters during the Nov. 14 meeting, including option contracts which could lead to the purchase real estate north of the senior high/middle school complex.  Mayor Scott Kudrna reported that he and Treasurer Joe Casey had met with two owners of property in Block 2 and Block 9 in Grandview Addition to secure options in the event that an effort be undertaken to construct a convention center/gymnasium on  that property. Kudrna said options on the two pieces of property totaled $97,500. They are with Nathan and Jeni Seitz in the amount of $32,500 and Marvin and Blanche Caspers for $65,000, and the purchase would only proceed if Auburn residents vote to approve having an additional halfcent city sales tax be collected.
