March 8 Training Prepares Spotters for 2018 Storm Season

Spotters are the eyes and ears of the National Weather Service (NWS).

Brian Smith explained that to about 25 individuals Thursday night, March 8 in Auburn. Smith is warning coordination meteorologist at the service’s Omaha/Valley office. He was conducting storm spotter training at the Nemaha County Hospital classroom.

“It doesn’t necessarily make you an ‘official’ spotter. We’re just touching the surface of what you learn,” said Smith, who has lived in Nebraska since 1994.
