July 10 Morning Storm Brings Downed Trees, Power Outages

Area residents were among many across eastern Nebraska affected by the early morning storm Saturday, July 10.

Renee Critser, emergency manager noted the highest wind speed she was aware of was about 67 mph. There were reports of fallen trees, vehicle damage and a lot of corn was downed by Nemaha, Critser continued.

Gary Lesoing, Nebraska Extension educator, stated there was some crop damage but it was not as substantial as July 2016.

Lesoing recalled he had driven in the northern and northwestern part of the county around Brock but did not see a whole lot of damage. He continued he had not heard a lot about damage and certain areas will be worse than others. Lesoing stated it is hard to determine damage unless you go out into the fields. You visually cannot see a lot from the road, he said.
