Julie Slama Appointed to Legislative District 1 by Gov. Pete Ricketts

A 2014 Auburn High School graduate will be representing Southeast Nebraska in the Unicameral.

On Wednesday, Dec. 26, Julie Slama of Peru was named by Gov. Pete Ricketts to fill an upcoming vacancy in Legislative District 1. Slama, age 22 is a registered Republican. The fifth generation Nebraskan joins the Legislature Wednesday, Jan. 9, the first day of the 2019 session. Sen. Dan Watermeier of Syracuse will be stepping down after six years to be sworn in as a member of the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

“When notified of my appointment, I was very excited and ready to get to work for the district. It’s an honor to have this chance,” Slama told the Nemaha County Herald. She is the daughter of Bob and Jo Slama.
