Julian Filling Station Project Nears Finish; 2019 Committee Goals Include Acquiring a Historical Society Sign

The Julian Preservation Committee is pleased with the fantastic response to its 2018 Julian Filling Station project.

Ken Burgert, committee member, notes contributions received were used to refurbish the historic filling station and garage structures. He continued donations were received from more than 70 individuals and businesses. There were also several in-kind donations of labor, supplies and equipment. Burgert stated donors included past and current residents of the community as well as those hearing about the project wanting to see these unique buildings preserved. The Nemaha County Visitors Committee also assisted with grant funds.

During 2018 the roofs of both buildings were replaced, new windows were installed, concrete was replaced, both structures were painted, refurbished gas pumps were installed, a new Julian Filling Station sign was erected and landscaping completed.
