Johnson-Brock Advances to D-1 State One-Act with ‘Nosferatu: A Vampire Symphony of Horror’

For the third time in six years, Johnson-Brock High School students have qualified for state one-act play.

Tuesday, Dec. 3, the cast and crew of Nosferatu: A Vampire Symphony of Horror captured the District D1-1 title at Johnson. A dozen students earned Outstanding Performance awards. They are: Eddie Boysen, Jenna Brocker, Charity Bulmer, Kolt Davis, David Gerdes, Alex Greiner, Ty Hahn, Joshua Hoff-Boring, Elaina Riley, Audrey Sandfort, Haylie Torczon and Skylar Witte.

Cast members sat in the front rows of the old gymnasium waiting for the awards ceremony. The mood was somber. No one of them knew how the judging panel would rank them. Only the top team advances to state. The student performers had listened to the critiques and made changes after every performance, working to perfect the complicated drama with 20 scene changes.
