COVID-19 Has Made Its Presence Known in Nemaha County, Beyond

By Darrell Wellman

During a visit with the Nemaha County Herald on Friday, Nov. 13, Nemaha County Hospital CEO Marty Fattig and COO/CNO Susi Vonbergen expressed concern with the latest trend in COVID-19 testing results locally and across the state.

While Fattig said Nemaha County is fortunate that Auburn Family Health Center is conducting “rapid testing” with results available in as little time as 15 minutes after an individual is tested, there are still way too many people being found as positive to having COVID-19. “They [AFHC] had the forethought to get the tests ordered early on to beat the current demand on tests,” Fattig explained.

In addition, Nemaha County Hospital is a Test Nebraska site on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon with the number of people capable of being tested in this way having been raised from 30 to 50 weekly at this time.
