Auburn State Theater Will Reopen April 16; Evening Shows Fridays Thru Sundays

Movies are returning to Auburn.

Friday, April 16, the Auburn State Theater will be back in business with a 7:30 p.m. screening of Godzilla vs. Kong. In the immediate future, showtimes are being limited to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

“We’ve had a lot of requests from the public asking us to reopen. We have enough money to reopen. Hopefully we will have the support of the community. We think the public is feeling better about the pandemic overall. People are feeling a little more safe after being vaccinated. It has given us a little more confidence,” states Carla Mason, theater manager.

The movie house will be abiding by Auburn Public Schools policy requiring wearing masks when not sitting down and encouraging social distancing. If directed health measures change the theater will abide by them, Mason notes.

Seating currently is set up at 50 percent which will probably remain unless there is a demand for more, the manager relates. The theater is allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity.
