Americans Should Be Honored to Be Around Vets, Mayor Kudrna Relates on Veterans Day at Auburn High School

Auburn Mayor Scott Kudrna said on Veterans Day we should appreciate the sacrifices of those who served in the U.S. armed forces.

Kudrna spoke before Auburn High School (AHS) students and faculty, as well as veterans and community members Friday, Nov. 11.

“Our heroes are those veterans who stood up today as well as those on the (Nemaha County Veterans) Memorial (in Legion Memorial Park). You should be awed by their selfless service and honored to be in their presence,” the Auburn mayor continued.

“We are fortunate to live in the United States and in Auburn. The freedoms we have as Americans are not common throughout the world. Think of what veterans and their families have sacrificed to allow you to enjoy the freedom we have,” Kudrna said.

While not a veteran, Kudrna noted several of his family members are. While growing up, the Auburn mayor recalled he was taught to respect those who served in the armed forces while being taught military values.
