Frank E. Zimmerman - December 27, 2012
1934-2012Frank E. Zimmerman, 78, of Auburn, Nebraska died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb. He was born October 24, 1934 in Big Springs, Neb. He graduated from Big Springs High School in 1952 and from Nebraska Christian College in 1956.
Frank married Margie Jo Stewart on June 3, 1956 at the Westside Christian Church in Denver, Colo.
He was the pastor for the Rockwell City Church of Christ for six years, and then was the pastor of the Auburn Christian Church from 1962 until he retired in 2000. Frank was the interim pastor for the Stella, Nemaha and Talmage Christian Churches. He served on the board for the Nebraska Christian College for over 25 years and was the past chairman of the board. He was a member of Toastmasters in Auburn, the Kiwanis International and was a past President of the local club and past Lt. Governor of District 14 of Nebraska and Iowa. Frank was active in the Nemaha County Ministerial Association, Nemaha Valley Museum and was on the Auburn Memorial Library Board, and treasurer of the Library Foundation in Auburn. He received a commission as an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. Frank enjoyed trains and genealogy but he especially enjoyed his children and their families.
Survivors include his wife Margie of Auburn; children, Joi Zimmerman Gault and husband, Jay of Surprise, Arizona, Jay Zimmerman and wife, Kris of Republican City, Neb., Jim Zimmerman and wife, Megan of Zeeland, Michigan, and Jon Zimmerman and wife, Teri of Beatrice, Neb.; grandchildren, Stacey, Teautla, Jamie, Kiona, Dawson, Gerin, Logan and Gracelyn; sisters, Caroline Lindauer and husband, Keith of Long Beach, Calif., Ilene Dye of Issaquah, Wash., and Alice Scheffler and husband, Earl of Joplin, Missouri; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Frank J. and Frances L. (Randall) Zimmerman; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Auburn Christian Church.
Burial followed in the Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn.
Memorials may be given to the family’s choice with the Funeral Home in charge.
